West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda’s visit to the eastern state as nautanki (drama). “They (BJP) have no other work. At times, the Home Minister is here, other times its Chaddha, Nadda, Fadda, Bhaddha. When they’ve no audience, they call their workers for doing nautanki,” CM Banerjee said while addressing a public rally in Kolkata.

Responding to JP Nadda’s allegations that there is no accountability of Rs 1,000 crore central assistance to given to West Bengal, Banerjee said, “They ask us to give them an account of the funds. First I would like to ask them to provide an account of PM CARES Fund. One day you wake up to find yourself in dire situation like demonetisation, lockdown and these actions are taken without any prior discussions,” she said.

“You have security personnel with you. How can someone attack you? Instead of depending on the state, you depend on central force. The attack might have been planned, I have asked the police to investigate but I won’t put up with lies all the time,” she added.

Stones were pelted at JP Nadda and party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoys when they were heading towards Diamond Harbour area in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district early today.

No administration, political democracy in Bengal, only political vengeance: JP Nadda

Speaking at the rally after the attack on his convoy, JP Nadda had said: “I’m sharing my experience in Bengal for the past two days. Eight workers of the BJP are in hospital today. But we will stand by them. The incident that occured today makes it clear there is intolerance, lawlessness and no political democracy in Bengal. There is no administration. There’s only political vengeance. Is this Rabindranath Tagore’s Bengal? Is this Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s Bengal?”
