Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar had recently sent out a legal notice to a Youtuber named Rashid Siddiquee who had claimed that Kumar had helped Rhea Chakraborty to escape from India. Kumar had sent a defamation notice of Rs. 500 crore.
Responding to the legal notice, Rashid and his lawyer countered the notice in court on Friday and threatened legal action against Akshay Kumar if the actor failed to take back the defamation notice. Rashid through his lawyer stated that the information he said in his videos was quoted from different news channels. His lawyer said,
“Your client (Kumar) faced severe backlash after interviewing an influential politician whereby thousands of personal remarks were made against your client, but he did not take any action against them, and selectively chose to take action against my client (Siddiquee).”
500 Crore Of Defamation
Rashid also alleged that the notice was delivered three months late. In the notice, Kumar said that through Rashid’s YouTube channel FF News has uploaded several defamatory and derogatory videos against him. He also sought an unconditional apology from the YouTuber along with the removal of objectionable videos from his channel. He also said that he suffered mental trauma and financial loss of worth 500 crores.
In the videos quoted in the notice, Rashid had mage allegations against Kumar and had claimed that he helped Rhea Chakraborty, who is accused in the abetment of suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput, to abscond to Canada. He also claimed that Akshay Kumar had secret meetings with minister Aditya Thackeray and Mumbai Police Commissioner regarding the same. After hearing the matter, Siddique was granted anticipatory bail by a Mumbai court which also asked him to cooperate in the investigation.
Rhea Chakraborty who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau for peddling drugs to Sushant Singh Rajput was released on bail in September. She also faces charges of criminal conspiracy and abetment of suicide.
