The judge who headed the commission to investigate the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992, Justice MS Liberhan has said on Thursday that the presence of Mohan Bhagwat at the ground-breaking ceremony is proof that RSS was behind the demolition.
On the 5th of August, in the ground-breaking ceremony in Ram Temple Ayodhya, among the many esteemed guests were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and the chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Mohan Bhagwat.
Post the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992, the Liberhan Commission was set up soon to investigate. After 17 years, in 2009, the commission submitted its report and said RSS cadres are behind the demolition of the mosque. In the report, there were names of several leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
‘Justice Does Not Represent All Sentiments’
Justice Liberhan who headed the commission spoke to The Times of India and said that the Supreme Court verdict does not represent the sentiments of all communities. He said,
“The Supreme Court has decided the title only. My views about judgment are different. Yes, it does not represent the sentiments of all communities but something has to be relied on at some level.”
On November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court gave a landmark judgment and ruled that the disputed land in Ayodhya will be handed over to a trust formed by the government to look after the construction of Ram Temple. However, the court did say that the demolition of Babri Masjid was illegal and asked the government to acquire an alternative plot of land for the Muslims to build a mosque.
On August 4th, Liberhan also said that,
“It is a personal feeling. I have no comments to offer on why I have had this feeling.”
The Ram Janmbhoomi Bhoomi Pujan took place grandly on the 5th of August as the Hindu community celebrated it as a historic day.
