Hours before the historic Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the current BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the whole country is ready to welcome Lord Ram.
The Rajya Sabha Member Of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh took to Twitter and wrote,
“The whole country is ready to welcome Lord Ram! Shri Ram was always with us and will remain with us for ages. Wishing people on the occasion of bhumi puja for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Jai Shree Ram!”
Interestingly, the leader had criticized the same when he was with his former party, the Indian National Congress. He had attacked the current ruling party BJP for politicizing the Ram Mandir issue. He had told,
“Politics shouldn’t enter religion and religion should not enter politics. As far as the religion of a person is concerned, it’s his personal matter… BJP has the habit to make noise and say ‘Kasam Gita ki, mandir hum wahin banaenge’ par taarekh nahi bataenge.”
Jyotiraditya Scindia who was with the Congress party for 18 years, switched his loyalties a few months back when he joined the rival party Bharatiya Janata Party. However, in the past, Scindia had attacked the saffron party for a range of issues including farmers’ problems, economic crisis, women’s safety or even electoral process.
Scindia’s Connection With Ram Mandir Movement
However, Scindia’s grandmother, Vijayraje Scindia was one of the founding members so the Bharatiya Janata Party who also spearheaded the Ram Mandir movement. When the Babri Masjid was brought down, she was on the dais with Murli Manohar Joshi and LK Advani. An article in the Outlook says,
“The opening lines of Vijayraje Scindia’s speech were a signal to bring down the Babri mosque. LK Advani was on the dais erected at Ram Katha Kunj, barely 100 meters away. Sharing the stage with him were Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharati, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore, and Vinay Katiyar.”
