Ahead of the foundation ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a priest and 14 policemen who were on duty at the Ram Janmabhoomi has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The ceremony that is slated to happen on the 5th of August will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will be accompanied by 50 other VIPs. The news of the priest being tested positive for the novel coronavirus was confirmed by the assistant Pradeep Das. Apart from the chief priest, four other priests at the makeshift temple have also been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The policemen who were stationed at the site for security have also turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.
Congress Slams For Not Inviting Them
The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is all set to happen on the 5th of August in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, Congress has come forward and slammed the BJP for not inviting them to the ceremony.
The Congress party slammed the BJP for stealing the credit of the Supreme Court verdict and turning the event into an exclusive BJP-RSS ceremony. This was confirmed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra which was set up to oversee the construction of the temple. The treasurer of the trust, Swami Govind Dev Giri confirmed that they have not invited any opposition leaders. He said,
“We have not sent an invite to any political party as we don’t want to differentiate between parties. We can’t pick and choose. Lord Ram is a holy figure for all. We are appealing to all those who have not been invited to pray wherever they are.”
Among many who are invited for the ceremony are senior BJP leaders like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar and Sadhvi Rithambhara. The chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mohan Bhagwat, and the general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi is also set to attend the ceremony.
