Sushant’s Suicide: Sanjay Leela Bhansali Among Others Who Are Summoned By Mumbai Police

The investigation of the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by Mumbai Police has taken a new turn. The city police have summoned directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shekhar Kapur for questioning.

The Mumbai Police had earlier called in Sushant’s close friends Rhea Chakraborty and Mahesh Shetty for questioning. While the police have recorded their statements, the police have now called filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Earlier, the Home Minister of state Anil Deshmukh had shared that the investigation would also probe the professional rivalry.

A report in the ETimes reveals that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had offered four films to Sushant but none of it materialized to a film. The reported quoted a source which said,

“Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were quite fond of each other as well as their work. In fact, not once but 4 times working together was on the cards for them, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had offered him 4 films, but due to date issues, things didn’t materialize.”

Shekhar Kapur Summoned 

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has also been summoned by the Mumbai Police. Sushant was supposed to star in Shekhar Kapur’s next film in India which was in works for a long time. The film was called Paani. There are reports that the film is shelved long back. After Sushant’s demise, Shekhar shared on Twitter,

“I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish around the last 6 months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours.”

Along with the two filmmakers, actress Kangana has also been called in for investigation. Post the demise, Kangana shared a fiery video on social media where she came down heavily on Bollywood for sidelining Sushant. She accused Bollywood producers of being guilty of forcing Sushant to do so.

Sushant Singh Rajput hanged himself on June 14th in his Bandra apartment. His last film Dil Bechara, the official remake of the Fault in Our Stars, is set to release on Disney + Hotstar on the 24th of July.
