As per the sources coming in from New Delhi, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh headed a high-level meeting with top military authorities and has reportedly given a free hand to the army to retaliate against the Chinese aggression.
Currently, India has deployed heavy infantry along the 3,500-kilometre de-facto border it shares with China. Over the past month, there has been intense tension between China and India. While the latter continued to build fortifications along the LAC, India deployed more troops anticipating an attack. On Monday evening, a fight broke between the two forces resulting in casualties on both sides. Indian Armed forces lost 20 of its personnel.
Now it is learned that the defense ministry have given complete freedom to the Indian Army in order to give a befitting reply to the Chinese aggression. The meeting was reportedly attended by Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, Army Chief General MM Naravane, and Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria. The sources confirm that the top military officers have been asked to monitor the Chinese activities along the border and to adopt a tough approach in dealing with any misadventure.
Chinese Aggression
According to another report by NDTV, the Chinese forces have brought in bulldozers into action on their side of the line of actual control. As per the report, the attempt is to block or disturb the flow of the Galwan river into the Northeastern part of Ladakh which is a kilometer away from where the face-off took place. The report further states that the flow of river perceptibly changes from flowing blue waters into a small muddy stream that soon becomes imperceptible as it crossed the line of actual control.
While the Indian Armed Forces have lost 20 of its personnel, the People’s Liberation Army is yet to officially report the casualties. On the other hand, along with the Army, the Indian Air Force too has been given permissions to ramp up operational capabilities along the line of actual control. The meeting has happened a day before the defense minister leaves for Russia to attend a grand military parade in Moscow to mark the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory of Germany in the Second World War.
