In an alarming incident coming from the National Capital, Member of Parliament and former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s father’s SUV was stolen right in front of their house in Rajendra Nagar of Central Delhi.
As per the report of the Indian express, a CCTV footage of the theft was put up on the social media by the publication. The incident is believed to have happened on Thursday morning. The police have identified the car to be a Toyota Fortuner that was parked in front of Gambhir’s residence.
Mahendra Singh, the journalist from the Indian express tweeted the CCTV footage where the theft has been recorded. However, thieves are yet to be identified. He wrote in his tweet,
“JUST IN: Former India Cricketer and East Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir’s father became a victim of theft in Central Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar when their SUV was stolen from outside their house. The Police have found CCTV footage but they are yet to identify the accused.”
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Bhatia said,
“We received information that a Fortuner car was stolen from MP Gautam Gambhir’s house. We reached his house and met his father Deepak Gambhir. He informed us that he owned a Toyota Fortuner which was white in color. On Wednesday, at around 3.30 pm, he said the car was parked in front of the house but on Thursday morning they found it stolen.”
Investigation has started
However, except for the CCTV footage, the police are yet to find evidence in order to move ahead with the case. The accused too are unidentified. A complaint has been registered by Deepak Gambhir at Rajendra Nagar police station and the investigation has been started. It is headed by the Central district special staff and the Crime branch. The forensics team has also been involved to take the fingerprints and the footprints from the crime scene.
The Member of Parliament is yet to release a statement or respond to the matter. However, the spike in theft in the national capital has not even spared the VIPs and the Politicians.
