Officials deployed in the containment zones of Delhi say that they are receiving quirky requests from the residents, such as Biryani, Samosa, Pizzas, and Sweets, which they are finding it difficult to arrange at this point in time.
Working In A Containment Zone
In a Containment Zone, the entire area or ward is cordoned off and the residents will not be allowed to come outside of their homes for any purpose. Officials would be deployed in these areas to cater to the requests of the residents.
The Officials have created a Whatsapp group in Delhi containment zones, wherein residents would key in their orders on the group and Officials would have to ensure the delivery of these items at the doorstep of the citizens.
Quirky Requests from the containment zones
While in Delhi’s Narela region, residents have requested for Chicken and Mutton Biryani, South Delhi has seen requests for pizzas. In other parts, Officials have also had to arrange sweets to fulfill the orders.
A senior official said:
“We don’t fulfill frivolous demands. At a time when an area is sealed and declared a containment zone in such a crisis, our duty is to ensure the delivery of only essential items like vegetables, water, and milk. We have told our field officials to ignore unusual demands.”
In Delhi, 76 containment zones have been identified. 1893 positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified, while 43 fatalities have been confirmed in the capital city.
