Almost 250 buses reached Kota to pick up 9000 students who were stuck in Kota due to India’s lockdown which commenced on 25th March 2020 and now has been extended to 04 May 2020.
Along with that, the Rajasthan government also had 100 buses on standby to assist with the issue.
After several parents voiced their concerns about their children studying in Kota, UP government took this step so the kids could come back home.
The UP government initiated the move after several parents expressed their concern over their kids remaining stuck in Kota, known as a hub of coaching centers, ever since the nationwide lockdown was announced.
Kota PRO Hariom Gurjar said, “About 9,000 students from UP who were preparing for different competitive examinations in Kota are being sent home in the wake of lockdown imposed in the nation. Six pick-up points have been created in the state near their coaching centers where the administration is helping these students to reach. Each bus will accommodate a minimum of 30 students. The students are duly being screened by doctors in Kota and after that, they are being allowed to board the buses.”
The UP government’s move also earned high praise from Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot who said that other states should also take similar steps so that kids studying in other cities can come back home and be with their families in this difficult time.
“As the UP govt called back students of UP living in #Kota #Rajasthan, it can also be done for students from other states. Students in Kota can be sent to their home states on the consent of the concerned state govt so that these young boys & girls do not panic or feel depressed,” Gehlot wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday.
