Containment Zone: Here Is How BBMP Decides Whether An Area Is Containment Zone Or Not

The Government of Karnataka is taking strict and innovative measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic across the state. In Bengaluru though, BBMP has also come to the aid of the Government.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) recently earmarked 38 Hotspots in Bengaluru, with each having reported at least one positive case of COVID-19 in the last 28 days. BBMP has now also shared a piece of detailed information on the definition of a containment zone. Here is more about BBMP’s definition of containment zone:

Apartments

If a COVID-19 case is reported in an apartment, the entire complex will be demarcated as a containment zone.

An entire apartment will be called as a containment zone, if one of the residents test positive for COVID-19

Independent House

If a patient resides in an independent house, the 200 meter-radius around the house will be encircled as a containment zone. The physical radius of the same will be defined and decided by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike.

Slum

If a case is detected in a slum, BBMP will mark the entire slum as a containment zone. In this case, the BBMP has clarified that vehicular movement will be completely restricted and all the essentials will be delivered on a door-to-door basis.

Buffer Zone

BBMP additionally defined the meaning of a buffer zone. The One Kilometre-radius around a containment zone will be called a buffer zone. House-to-House screening will be carried out in the buffer zone.
