On Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs released fresh guidelines, that need to be followed for the second phase of the lockdown.
PM Modi had earlier announced the extension of lockdown
On April 14th, PM Narendra Modi announced that the lockdown would be extended across the country till May 3rd. He also said that relaxation could be made to the lockdown after observing the trend of the outbreak until April 20th.

In the speech, Mr. Modi also mentioned that the government would release a fresh set of guidelines for the second phase of the lockdown. The guidelines have been released by the MHA today.
Here is the summary of the guidelines issued by MHA:
- All kinds of Public Transport will be barred and Public Places will remain closed.
- Inter-state, inter-district movement of people, taxi aggregators, and metro services will remain prohibited.
- Gatherings of funerals and marriages will be monitored and regulated by the District Magistrate.
- All educational institutions will remain shut.
- All international and domestic flights will be suspended until May 3rd.
- All agricultural activities, including process-oriented functions such as procurement, will be functional.
- Bank Branches and ATM’s, along with IT vendors for banking operations will be functional.
- Grocery stores, fruit, vegetable shops or carts, milk booths, poultry, meat, and fish shops to remain open during the lockdown.
- Services provided by self-employed electricians, IT repairs, plumbers, motor mechanics, carpenters to be allowed from April 20.
- Manufacturing industries involved in the production of drugs and other medical supplies will be allowed to operate.
- The government has permitted the industries functioning in rural areas to resume operations from April 30th with strict social distancing norms enforced.
- From April 20, there could be relaxation in certain areas that are not considered a hotspot.
- Truck Repair shops and Call Centres for govt. activities will be allowed to function after April 20.
