Sakshi Joshi, a news anchor with News 24, has falsely claimed in a tweet that the Tirupati Temple shut after Tablighi Jamaat religious conference was targeted across the country.
Tablighi Jamaat Religious Conference Fiasco
With over 8000 Indians in attendance at the event that was held a few weeks ago, the Nizamuddin religious meet has now become the epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country. Several states, including Telangana and Tamil Nadu, have had positive cases of COVID-19 linked to this religious conference.
False Accusation of Sakshi Joshi
A news anchor with News 24, Sakshi Joshi has claimed that the Tirupati Temple must have shut now after Tablighi Jamaat became the target across the country. She further added that the 50 Temples under Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD) Board have also shut after the Nizamuddin Fiasco.
In her tweet, she said, “Now these guys have also done us a big favor by closing.”
She also added that, although the temples are closed, prayers are still going on inside the premises.
TTD stopped operations on March 20th, 2020
However, as per the official reports, TTD shut the main temple and the 50 sub-temples on March 20, 2020. The lockdown of the temple was announced until April 14th.
Although initially, the Temple suspended operations until March 31st, the board later pushed back the reopening date of the temple to April 14th after PM Modi announced a 3-week nationwide lockdown.
Ever since the facts were revealed, Sakshi Joshi has been at the center of backlash on her social media handle.
