Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has launched an exclusive Task Force, which focuses on attending the grievances of the elderly citizens and the weaker sections of his constituency during the lock-down period.
Bengaluru South Coronavirus Task Force
In collaboration with the Bengaluru South & South-East Police division, Tejasvi flagged this campaign a few days ago. As part of this task force, a helpline number (99464 99464) has been given, to which the distressed can call.
Section in Focus
While the elderly citizens are given preference to avail food items, this Task Force is also committed to serving the economically weaker sections of the society. The force will also provide non-COVID emergency medical assistance to the citizens.
Working of the Task Force
Tejasvi Surya has designed an innovative way to help the force function. Whatsapp groups are created based on the jurisdictions of the police stations, and volunteers are added to these groups based on their location. Once the calls are made to the helpline number, a cloud-based call center will direct the grievances to the corresponding Whatsapp group. Based on the requirement, the volunteers and the police officers will address the issue.
Here is what Tejasvi Surya said about the idea:
“The helpline will cater to problems faced by people during the lockdown, For example, if a person is mentally stressed during the lockdown and calls the helpline, the volunteer will redirect you to an online psychiatrist. Any person who is unable to find food in his/her PG can call the helpline for food. If there is any medical emergency for a pregnant woman, divyang or any other person, the helpline will alert the nearest ambulance available. Any animal on the streets which needs water or food may alert our dedicated team of animal volunteers for the provision of food supplies. This way, we want to address grievances that may arise in the next 20 days.”
