Amulya Leona, an anti-CAA protester, who raised pro-Pakistani slogans at an event at Freedom Park on Thursday evening is under custody with the Bengaluru police. The feisty teenager has now blamed the protest organizers for not allowing her to complete what she wanted to say on stage.
Amulya Leona Defends Herself
The young lady from Chikkamagalur claims that she actually wanted to compare the silence that embraces her reference to the neighboring country with the applause that follows Hindustan Zindabad. However, her speech was interrupted and was made to leave the stage.
“I wanted to convey the message that people against CAA and NRC are being labeled anti-nationals and asked to go to Pakistan. I wanted to prove that we too are patriots by comparing the responses to Pakistan Zindabad and Hindustan Zindabad slogans,” she told TOI.
Organizers refused to conclude
Amulya also informed the police that she was involved in many protests including against global warming, corruption, and other social issues in the past. However, the recent developments over the CAA and NRC row forced her to join the demonstration.
Explaining the much-criticized event, Amulya told police, “I began my speech saying Pakistan Zindabad thrice and Hindustan Zindabad. In the meantime, event organizers tried to snatch the mike from me. I asked them to allow me to convey what I wanted to say, but they refused.”
“After they snatched the mike, I told them, ‘I said Pakistan Zindabad and Hindustan zindabad but the difference between these two is…’ but organizers, police, and Owaisi stopped me abruptly and police took me away. Though I demanded that I be allowed to conclude my speech they did not allow me,” she added.
Meanwhile, the organizers had insisted they had not summoned Amulya Leona to the event, the police have asked an explanation on how she was allowed to appear on the platform.
Following Amulya’s statement, the police presented her before a magistrate in the wee hours of Friday. Surprisingly, when she was taken to the judge’s residence, located at the National Games Village in Koramangala, Leona pointed towards the TV cameras and flashed a victory sign.
