The former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for defaming India’s image as a country where peace predominated and inspired the youth not to let their voice be defeated. He also asked PM to speak about rising unemployment in the country.
Congress leader slams BJP Government
The Congress leader addressing Yuva Aakrosh Rally in Jaipur, Rajasthan, said that the Modi government has failed to perform on its promise to create jobs.
“Our PM had agreed two crore jobs but previous year our youth suffered one crore jobs. Anywhere he goes he speaks on CAA and NRC but doesn’t consider the biggest problem of unemployment. He doesn’t even utter a word on it,” Gandhi said.
“Earlier, we were competing with China but now sadly China has left us far behind. The whole world knows if there is anyone who can rival China, it is India’s youth,” he said.
NDA responsible for the economy slowdown
Targeting the sluggish economy under the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister “probably hasn’t studied or understood economics”.
“India rose at 9% during the UPA. The whole world was watching us. Today, you have different parameters to measure GDP and you have a 5% rate. If you use the older one, then India is rising at 2.5%,” he said.
“Yuva Aakrosh Rally (youth anger) is a part of Rahul Gandhi’s recommended plan to hold similar rallies across the country to reconnect with the masses and corner the Centre on the nationwide protests over the new citizenship law and economic slowdown.
“The reputation and image that India had in the world were that it is a country of brotherhood, love, and unity, while Pakistan was known for hate and divisiveness. This image of India has been destroyed by Narendra Modi. Today, India is regarded as the rape capital of the world,” he said.
Youth should raise their voice
Rahul Gandhi urged the youth to raise issues related to the country’s future. He asked them not to let anyone crush their voice.
“When our youth question the PM on our reputation being negatively affected, on joblessness, they target you, they shoot at you. I challenge the PM to visit any Indian university and face students’ questions before he speaks. He can’t but he can make false promises.”
“Each nation has an internal treasure, ours is the youth of the country…everyone recognizes that the youth of this country can transform the whole world. The 21st century India is misusing its treasure. This government and the PM are not letting the youth to do what they can do for the country,” he said.
