A piece of news for Bengluruians, Chief minister BS Yediyurappa announced that the flyover at Anand Rao Circle, near Majestic, will be named after Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna.
Rayanna’s death anniversary
On Sunday, Karnataka celebrated Republic Day with the parades and the hoisting of the national flag. And most importantly the Kannadigas also observed the death anniversary of the great warrior and military chief Sangolli Rayanna.
Several government officials and several political leaders paid their tributes by garlanding his statue at Brindavan Circle.
Flyover named after the 19th-century military chief
According to the sources, the flyover connecting West Bengaluru with the central business district will be named after the 19th-century military chief Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa made this announcement after garlanding Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna’s statue on the occasion of Rayanna’s 189th death anniversary on Sunday.
After the news emerged, Congress leader Siddaramaiah asked the Chief Minister to release funds kept aside for the development of Rayanna’s birthplace Sangolli and Nandagad where he died (both in Belagavi district).
