Free pick-up and drop facility to women at night
Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday announced that women in the state will be given free and immediately available police help outside in the evening.
In this particular service, the police will drop the lone women safely to their homes and the service will be available between 9 pm to 6 am. To make women more comfortable, a lady police officer would accompany her to her home in the police vehicle.
Dial 100, 112 and 181
By dialing 100, 112 and 181, a woman can easily connect with the Police Control Room (PCR) and ask for a safe drive. However, it should be noted that the service will be available to women who do not have access to a safe vehicle, which comprises a cab or even a three-wheeler.
This decision came in after the Telangana incident, the Chief Minister said that his Government was committed to guaranteeing the safety and security of women in the State and would take all possible steps for the same.
“DSP or ACP (Crime against Women) will be the Nodal Officer to implement the scheme in each district. Their numbers would be available on the Punjab Government and Punjab Police websites,” said the DGP.
