Bengaluru: Railway Authorities Ask A Labourer’s 10-Year-Old Daughter To Inaugurate An Escalator

In a very humanitarian gesture, Southern Western Railway (SWR) authorities inaugurated Bengaluru railway station escalator from the hands of a laborer’s daughter. The incident happened at KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station on Saturday which has won a lot of appreciation form the public and SWR employees.

India changing for the better

Our country is changing, this unbelievable incident in Bengaluru is proof to describe the whole. An escalator at Platform No 4 and a renovated AC waiting hall were scheduled to be inaugurated on Saturday by Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan. Section 144 was imposed in the city due to the backdrop of the Ayodhya Verdict. Because of the prohibitory orders, the inauguration ceremony had to be called off.

The railway authorities chose not to delay the inauguration and wanted to make the facility open to the public as soon as possible. By not causing a much of a delay. the railway officials gave this privilege to a 10-year-old Begumma whose mother Chandbi, 32, who had been working for this project within the railway station, to do the ribbon-cutting.

Before the deadline 

In recent years, this is the first time a government project was inaugurated by common people. Another fact about this railway project that is getting appreciation from people is that the escalator project was completed a day before the given deadline. “We had placed a countdown clock at the worksite to monitor the progress. We were able to finish the project exactly 1 day, 11 minutes and 57 seconds before the deadline was set to expire,” said Ashok Verma, Bengaluru division Railway manager.

On the other hand, a new renovated AC waiting hall on platform number 1 was inaugurated by a common senior citizen. “ We saw them sitting at the platform and asked them to inaugurate it. They were surprised and happy,” said a railway official.
