Bengaluru Police Constable Covers An Open Manhole, Internet Praises Him And Slams BBMP

Manholes are nowadays a cause of concern for the citizens in the city. There have been a lot of cases where people are seen falling into the manhole or a vehicle is stuck in it, causing a direct threat to the public. Blindfolded Government has pretended to be unaware of the situations and have hardly shown any responsibilities towards it.

However, an incident came into limelight, when a police constable was reportedly seen covering a manhole instead of waiting for civic personnel to do the job. His efforts went viral on Monday morning, earning him a lot of praise and appreciations from all over the state.

The Call of Duty

This incident occurred on Sunday night, where a police constable named Girish M was driving his police jeep on the 18th cross in HSR Layout’s sector 3. While he was passing by, an open manhole caught his attention. He saw a woman and her daughter walking very close to the manhole which was very dangerous.

He immediately stopped his jeep and picked up a big stone lying nearby and managed to cover the manhole all by himself. Meanwhile, a passerby saw him doing that and took the photographs and posted in social media.

The viral picture

By Monday morning, the photo went viral and earned appreciation from senior officers, including deputy commissioners of police Isha Pant. On asking about the incident, Girish told, “people should also be aware of the public hazard. They should come forward without waiting for civic authorities and do the work.”
