This Saturday Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sri Krishna Temple in Guruvayur to offer prayers to the lord. PM Modi’s visit to the temple has come up with a catchy incident, as he made a digital transaction to pay for the rituals. According to sources, he paid an amount of Rs 39,421 for Saturday’s ceremonies in advance.
PM pays the donation in Digital method
Since the demonetization, there has been an increase in the number of digital transactions in the country and almost all business and non-profits use digital payments. Now, even temples and other religious places accept pooja donations and charity through digital payments.
PM Modi has been urging the entire nation to use digital payments solutions and cashless transactions as it is easy and leaves no scope for black money transactions. However, in an attempt to blend tradition and technology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the digital payments method to donate Rs 39,421 at the famed Lord Krishna temple in Guruvayur area of Thrissur.

PM Modi reached Guruvayur in a special helicopter from Kochi Naval Airport that reached around 9:50. He was accompanied by Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan and Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran. Wearing traditional attire, Modi was received at the temple gate by the authorities with a traditional poornakumbh.
PM performed rituals
He performed the Thulabharam ritual for which the temple authorities had reportedly arranged over 100 kg of lotus flowers. The ritual is an important offering to Lord Krishna wherein a person is weighed against a commodity such as flowers, grains, fruits, and similar articles and the equal value or quantity is offered as a donation.
After an hour-long ‘darshan’ at the temple, the prime minister addressed a party meeting Abhinandan Sabha being organized by the BJP Kerala State committee. It is said to be the first public meeting after assuming the PM’s post for a second term.
Modi’s Maldives and Sri Lanka visit
Later in the day, PM Modi is expected to leave for visits Maldives today where he will be will jointly inaugurating two defense-related projects – a coastal surveillance radar system and complex training center for Maldives National Defence Forces. Moreover, PM Modi is expected to visit Sri Lanka on 9th and meet President Maithripala Sirisena to discuss and strengthen bilateral ties.
