The trailer of Kabir Singh, the official Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani dropped today.
The film is about Kabir Singh, a surgeon with a short temper, an alcoholic and a man recovering from a tragic phase of his love life. The film is directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy who also directed the original. The Hindi version shows glimpses of the vicious nature of the original. It seems Sandeep is not flirting much with the original and is more or less sticking to the original film.
Shahid seems to have done a good job
Shahid Kapoor is back playing a disturbed character after Udta Punjab. In some of the scenes, he looks terrific while in some, he seems to fall short. One of the high points of the Telugu version was the impressive performance by Vijay Devarakonda. Since the original was announced, people were skeptical whether Shahid could pull this off. Well, apart from few sequences in the trailer particularly the opening and the closing scenes, Shahid seems to have done a good job.
Kiara Advani’s seemingly no-makeup look may have worked in the favor of the film. She looks pretty convincing. Although in the Telugu version, the female lead had very less to do and more to just be with Vijay Devarakonda, the fans and the moviegoers hope that is changed this time around by Sandeep.
Sloppily Edited
One of the key differences between the trailer of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh is the way it’s been cut. Arjun Reddy’s trailer cut was in sync with the background music whereas Kabir Singh trailer is quite sloppily edited. Though most of the scenes in the trailer is the same as that of Arjun Reddy, the music, for the trailer, seemed a misfit for the most parts.
The fans, the industry and we hope that the film lives up to the expectations. Kabir Singh will be releasing on 21st June 2019 across India.
Vijay Deverakonda on Hindi Remake
“Since it is the same director of the original film (Sandeep Vanga), I’m sure it will be really good and I’m excited to watch it. I’m waiting for it.”
