A 105-year-old grandma from Kerala, who has 6 children and 16 grandchildren, has appeared for Class 4 exams. At a very young age, Bhageerathi Amma had stopped her education to take care of her younger siblings. Scripting her self in history, the veteran has decided to continue her studies after all these years.
‘105’ is just a number
Bhageerathi Amma belongs to Parakulam in the Kollam district of Kerala. She had to stop her education at the age of nine when she was in Class 3, her desire to continue her studies was fulfilled with the guidance of officials of the Literary Mission who helped her to complete her studies.
The Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority is an autonomous institution under the Government of Kerala.
A Learning opportunity

“She has appeared in all the exams and is a real motivation for others who wish to learn,” said CK Pradeep Kumar, district co-ordinator of State Literary Mission.
