“Rashmika’s role as Srivalli would have suited me more,” said Aishwarya Rajesh in one of her recent interviews and the statement is going viral on social media platforms.
The Srivalli role
In a promotional interview, Aishwarya Rajesh, who recently appeared in the Tamil thriller Farhana, stated that she would have been a better Srivalli than Rashmika Mandanna in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. She stated that if she had been offered the role of Srivalli, she would have jumped at the chance.
Aishwarya spoke about her brief appearance in Telugu cinema. She has primarily worked in Tamil films, but she has appeared in one Telugu film, World Famous Lover, alongside Vijay Deverakonda. “I like the Telugu industry but I want to do a good Telugu film like a comeback, which will make my family proud because of my roots. I starred in World Famous Lover opposite Vijay Deverakonda but it didn’t work out as expected,” she told India Today.
She further added that if she had the chance to work in a film like Pushpa, she would’ve suited Rashmika Mandanna’s character Srivalli more than her. “In case I were given the opportunity, I would have jumped at it. Rashmika played Srivalli well but I feel and believe I would suit the character better,” she said.
Facing backlash
Now, the actress is facing backlash for her words for Rashmika Mandanna. Aishwarya has now shared a statement to clarify her stance. She wrote, “Talking about work, I was asked in a recent interview about the kind of roles I want to do in Telugu cinema. I replied that I like the Telugu film industry a lot and that I would certainly do Telugu films if I got roles that were to my liking. To cite an example, I said I liked the character of Srivalli in Pushpa a lot as I felt such characters would suit me.”
On the work front, Aishwarya Rajesh is currently working on ‘Theera Kadhal,’ a Lyca Productions film. The film also stars Jai and Sshivada in important roles, and it has created quite a stir among the audience. Aishwarya Rajesh also plays a pivotal lead role in the highly anticipated film ‘Dhruva Natchathiram.’ The film, directed by Gautham Menon and starring Chiyaan Vikram, has been delayed but is expected to be released later this year.
