Team India’s 87-year-old superfan Charulatha Patel who captured the attention across the country during the 2019 World cup is no more. The old lady passed away on Wednesday as she was suffering from age-related issues.
A legacy came to end
Charulatha Patel took her final breath on 13th January at 5.30 pm. Her official Instagram profile confirmed the news of her departure.
It wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you, our beautiful grandmother took her final breath on 13/01 at 5.30 pm. She was such a sweet little lady, it’s true ‘small things come in small packages’ our Dadi was a delight, she was/is truly extraordinary. She was our world.”
“I want to thank you all for making her feel special last year, she loved the attention. A big thank you to @virat.kohli you made her feel extra special, meeting you and @rohitsharma45 was the best day of her life (she told us this on multiple occasions). May Lord Shiva bless her atman always, please all say a prayer.”

Mrs. Charulatha Patel was spotted at Headingley, Leeds supporting India as they faced Sri Lanka in the final game of the group stage in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

After seeing her excitement, Team India captain Virat Kohli had also promised free match tickets for the 87-year-old after India’s previous encounter with Bangladesh. After the match against Bangladesh ended, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had marched up to her to seek her blessings.
