While experts claim that India has been able to hinder the growth of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, the attacks on the frontline workers of the COVID-19 workers have been rampant. The attacks, if not anything, has damaged the spirit of the country in the fight.

The entire nation has been on the lockdown to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak. The essential service workers are at the forefront of the battle. That includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, police officials and others who have been relentlessly working putting their lives at risk. Here are the six incidents that stand out.

Indore attack on medical professionals

In the Madhya Pradesh city, when health workers arrived at the area to screen the residents for the symptoms of COVID-19, they were attacked by an angry mob. Two doctors who were women were injured in the incident and had to be rescued by the police. In the video that went viral in the media, the two doctors can be seen chased by the angry mob.

Female doctor harassed at Surat

In an unfortunate incident. Dr. Sanjibani Panigrahi was allegedly harassed for being a doctor and working in the COVID-19 crisis. The 34-year-old doctor who works at the government hospital in Surat was ridiculed as a carrier of coronavirus by her neighbors in the apartment. She was even obstructed to enter her own house. The matter escalated as she was assaulted by a man after which she lodged a police complaint.

Midwife Manhandled in Bareilly

In a similar incident, a team of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) was manhandled by the villagers when the visited the village to check if any outsider with the symptoms of coronavirus had taken shelter there.

ASHA workers Harassed in Bengaluru

When a team of ASHA workers was conducting the survey regarding the COVID-19 symptoms, the residents of Sadiq layout harassed them by stealing their phones and not cooperating with them. The matter came to light only when one of the ASHA workers posted a video of herself describing the incident.

Moradabad Stone Pelting Incident

When an ambulance visited the Moradabad’s Nawabgunj area to take two coronavirus patients, a mob assaulted the vehicle and even attacked the two doctors present. The mob threw stones at the ambulance and doctors.

A scuffle between residents and police in Bengaluru

In a horrific incident, the residents of Padarayanapura, a hotspot in the city of Bengaluru attacked the police officials as they caused havoc in the area. The police and medical officials who had come to escort 15 secondary contacts of the positive tested patient, the residents refused at first but later the scuffle turned violent. A case has been registered to the police.
