The 2019 ICC Cricket world cup went as dismay for the Indian fans around the world. The semi-final loss has not only disappointed the fans but the Indian cricketers themselves. It is now talked about that, since India and New Zealand’s upset match, team India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma has shown regret towards his Skipper, Virat Kohli. It is said that the 32-year-old has not talked to Virat since the semi-final game, as he is belives the skipper and the coach had messed up with some crucial decisions in the game.
The rift between the two batsmen
The speculations of these reports were confirmed when team India’s opener unfollowed Virat Kohli on Instagram expressing his disappointment. Later, he also went on to unfollow Virat’s wife Anushka Sharma without any explanation.
Soon after the batsman’s Instagram spectacle, Anushka too involved herself in this drama and posted a cryptic message which was very much related to Rohit’s act. The post read, “A wise man once said nothing. Only truth can shake hands with silence in a mess of false appearances…” Though it’s not confirmed who did she mentioned in the post but it clearly looked that the train was in the right platform.
The follow and unfollow game
Amid the rift, Virat Kohli had not come up with any response to the situation and decided to remain quiet. He is still following Rohit Sharma on Instagram but has not yet followed Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh. On the other hand, Anushka has unfollowed both Rohit and his wife giving a clueless reason for the behavior.
One thing is sure that there have been divisions in the dressing room as players are displeased with the things operating in the team between the captain and the coach.
Fans here can only wait and watch for the situation to cool down and expect the players to sort out things and get along soon. However, Team India will be taking on West Indies from 3rd August in a 3 match T20 and ODI series followed by a 2 match Test series in the island of Caribbean.
