The 17th edition of Chitra Santhe will be held on January 5, 2020, which is organised by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. The event will take place at Kumara Krupa Road from 8am to 8pm. This year, the organisers are expecting four lakh visitors as compared last year’s to 3.5 lakh.
According to the parishath, this year’s event is dedicated to farmers and will boast artists from across the country. Last year’s theme was “Gandhiji”, as they were commemorating his 150th birth anniversary.
MJ Kamalakshi, general secretary, CKP told TOI 1,500 artists will participate in the mela. “We will also give four awards to artists from the state and one national-level award to a well-known artist from Chennai,” she said.
The national-level award which is named after Prof MS Nanjunda Rao, founder of CKP will be presented to artist RB Bhaskaran from Chennai. The award will be coupled with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh. The four state-level awards have been named after different personalities and will be given to artists with a cash award of Rs 50,000.
