Netflix original content

After seeing the grand success of RRR on Netflix, the OTT giant is now in talks with SS Rajamouli for original content. Earlier, the filmmaker was supposed to make a Baahubali series for the digital platform but the deal was tossed as they weren’t satisfied with the result.

Earlier Netflix India had planned a web series based on the “Baahubali” theme. They were in talks with Rajamouli for further engagements.

The name of this web series was given as the “Baahubali: Before the Beginning” series, which was originally created by Praveen Sattaru and Devakatta. However, the streaming giant was not satisfied with the web series and scrapped it. Crores of rupees were wasted and the relations between Rajamouli and Netflix became worse.

Baahubali series

The streaming company was overwhelmed with the massive response to Rajamouli’s latest hit, RRR. The film remained in the top position on the global charts on Netflix when it started streaming. Now, Netflix is willing to spend close to 100 crores on the same project if Rajamouli could come up with a fresh idea and serve as showrunner.

Reports claim that Rajamouli is already considering the ideal method to begin his son Karthikeya’s career as a filmmaker, and he believes that the Netflix project is the best way to go about it. Karthikeya will be directing it, but he will also serve as the showrunner because he recently directed the B-Unit of Baahubali and RRR.

Meanwhile, Rajamouli is currently working on the script for his next film starring Mahesh Babu. Temporarily titled, SSMB29, the movie is expected to take over 3 years to make and it is said that Rajamouli’s father, KV Vijayendra Prasad is exploring the idea of making an African Jungle Adventure.
