The second phase of the lockdown is scheduled to end on the 3rd of May i.e. Sunday. Despite the two phases of the lockdown, the curve has refused to show any signs of flattening. The third phase of the lockdown has become inevitable but it will be supplemented by a few relaxations at certain places.
The Green zone regions where there are zero cases of the novel coronavirus is likely to see some relaxations. However, the red zone areas, where there are more than 15 active cases of COVID-19, will not see any relaxations. Despite relaxations, the compulsion to maintain social distance and wearing masks in outdoors is likely to continue for months to come.
The Prime Minister, yesterday, held video interaction with all the representatives of the state to gauge the situation of each state. The Prime Minister has reportedly discussed the future measures with regard to the lockdown. As per a close source, most of the Chief Ministers are in the favor of extending lockdown while others suggested staggered relaxations in green zone regions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also suggested states to focus on converting red zone areas into orange zones. There was the issue of migrant workers raised by a few Chief Ministers but the decision on it is awaited from the central government.
