India Records Highest Daily Recoveries With Over 13,000 People Cured From COVID-19

In the middle of rising coronavirus cases all across the country, On Thursday, India reported a record number of recoveries. India reported over 13,940 people to be cured of COVID-19 in a single day.

As of 26th June 2020, India has confirmed 4,90,818 cases of the novel coronavirus cases. While India recorded the highest recoveries on Thursday, it also reported the highest single-day increase in the number of confirmed cases as it reported 17,296 cases. In 24 hours, India reported both the highest number of confirmed and recovery cases.

As per the information from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has over 2,85,671 recoveries. The active cases are at 1,89,784. The death toll too crossed the 15,000 mark on Thursday. The country reported over 407 fatalities on Thursday. The recovery rate of the country has increased to 58.24 percent.

The testing facilities in the country have also been ramped up throughout the country. The diagnostic labs have been increased to 1007 which will now offer COVID facilities. The Indian Council of Medical Research has said that the country has so far tested 77.76 lakh samples ever since the outbreak was first reported on January 30th in Kerala. On Thursday alone, India tested 2.15 lakh samples.

Delhi Crosses Mumbai

As per the government’s figures, the number of novel coronavirus cases per lakh population in the country is at 33.39 as opposed to the world average of 120.21 cases per lakh population. At the same time, the number of death per lakh population in India is one of the lowest in the world with 1.06 deaths/lakh. The world average is at 6.24 deaths per lakh population.

Over the weekend, a team from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be visiting the worst-affected states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Telangana to take stock of the situation and coordinate with the state officials to strengthen the COVID-19 management.

The state of Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state with 1,47,741 cases with 6,931. Delhi crossed the cases of Mumbai with 73,780 cases. The state of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have 70,977 and 29,520 cases respectively.
