“I want to bring down my prices by 30-40%”, Akshay Kumar After Frequent BO Failures

Bollywood is currently declining with its back-to-back flops at the box office. This year has been unusual as films like Shamshera, Samrat Prithviraj, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Radhe Shyam failed to impress audiences. Akshay Kumar who’s faced some disappointments too has some advice and that includes cutting down his salary.

Back-to-back flops for Akshay

In a surprising way, Akshay Kumar has himself suffered from a lot of box office failures. Ram Setu, Cuttputli, Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan were all flops at the box office. Many have criticized him for finishing films within 30 days and cited it as the ultimate reason behind his films not working.

Speaking at an event organized by Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar said, “What is happening, as per me, is that things have changed. The audience wants something different. This is what we should think that we should sit down and try to give them that. It is our fault not the audience’s fault that they are not coming. We have to give them what they want. That is what we have to rethink. We have to dismantle what we have made and start all over again. Think about what kind of cinema they would want to see. I want to start completely differently. And that is what I have started doing. What has happened during the pandemic is that their choices have changed rapidly.”

Akshay Kumar further said, “There are so many other things that need to be done, not just by the actors but the producers and theatres as well. I’ll tell you I want to bring down my prices by 30-40%. Theatres need to understand that it’s recession time also. The audience has a limited amount of money to spend on entertainment. You cannot be spending so much on it. Everything has to change. And it’s not just the theatres. We have to work on the cost of me, the cost of making the film. Everything needs to be addressed.”

Akshay Kumar is not happy

Meanwhile, after several media reports confirmed that Kartik Aaryan is all set to replace Akshay Kumar in the much-awaited movie Hera Pheri 3, the Khiladi actor on Sunday opened up on why he did not want to be a part of the flick.

Akki said, “The film was offered to me. I was told about it. But, I was not satisfied with the script. I have to do what people want to see and that is why I backed off. I took a step behind.”

Expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of creativity in the script, the actor said, “For me, it’s a part of my life, my journey. I am very much upset. I am hurt because I am not able to do it. I am hurt by how things have changed. I am not happy with the creative thing for which I backed off.”
