A few days’ break and Dhoni would then reunite with the national team players as they depart to England for the forthcoming ICC World Cup.
Virat Kohli Feels Dhoni’s Experience Would Be Vital
There’s no doubt over the value MS Dhoni brings to the Indian team, not just as a batsman or wicket-keeper but also as a leader in the team whose inputs can prove to be game changing at any course of the game. Undoubtedly, the current skipper of the Indian team knows it very well. Virat Kohli said Dhoni’s presence does matter a lot in the team. It also gives him the freedom to try his things.
“My career started under MS and very little have seen him from so close over the last few years as I have. There is one thing about MS that is far more important than anything else – and there’s a lot to him – for him, the team is always above everything else. It’s always about the team, no matter what,” tells Virat Kohli.
A Selfless Cricketer
With the World Cup knocking on the door, MS Dhoni has been identified as a vital member of the team, deference his lightning-quick wicket-keeping skills, finishing confidence and genius cricketing brain. However, Dhoni also had to manage a fair share of criticism lately for his dwindling power-hitting skills and struggle to rotate strikes in limited overs cricket.
Kohli countered to Dhoni’s critics and said, “Honestly, I think people lack patience. MS Dhoni is among the cleverest guys in the game. Behind the stumps, as I said, he’s priceless. It gives me the freedom to do my thing. Someone like MS is around with a wealth of experience.”
The 30-year-old has stressed that MS Dhoni is a selfless cricketer and having a man with experience will be great merit to the team at the 2019 World Cup, starting May 30 in England and Wales.
