Devaki, the upcoming Kannada thriller has jumped to second place on IMDB’s most anticipated Indian movies overtaking Salman Khan’s Bharat and Vivek Oberoi’s PM Narendra Modi.
Devaki is an upcoming Kannada movie directed by Lohith H of Mummy fame and it stars Priyanka Upendra in the lead role. The official teaser of the film was released in March which was very impressive, to say the least. It has the typical thriller vibe and the Kolkata setting makes it very cinematic.
The BookMyShow description goes like this – “Devaki follows the story of a resilient mother who sets out on a solo quest to find her missing daughter. With the odds stacked against her in a vast city like Kolkata, will she succeed?”
What This Cinema Is All About
The film explores the dark world of Child and Human Trafficking. India is one of the most affected countries by Human Trafficking. We see very few attempts of filmmakers exploring this theme or some gets lost in translation. By the look of it, so far, Devaki has managed to impress with the teaser.
Now with 26.8% votes, it is in the second place of IMDB’s most anticipated Indian movie list behind Yeh Hai India with 38.1% votes.
Produced by Akshay RC and Ravish RC under RCs Cinemas, the cast also includes Kishore who has impressed us in his Tamil films off late. The music is by Nobin Paul. The cinematography is by HC Venu and is edited by C Ravichandran.
The makers are yet to announce the release date.
