China Says WHO Does Not Have Evidence That The Coronvirus Originated In A Wuhan Lab

On Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has released a statement saying the World Health Organization (WHO)’s claim that no evidence is there to prove that the Coronavirus originated in a lab.

On Wednesday, United States President Donald Trump revealed that his officials are investigating the possibility that the Coronavirus could have originated in a Wuhan lab and not in a Wet Market as established by China.

Gen. Mark Milley, chariman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, regarding the topic said:

It should be no surprise to you that we have taken a keen interest in that and we’ve had a lot of intelligence take a hard look at that. I would just say at this point, it’s inconclusive, although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural, but we don’t know for certain

There were further reports that China was developing the virus to prove its credentials in tackling different viruses are the same as that of the United States. A person working in the lab got infected with the virus, and he later appeared at the Wet Market, which led to the outbreak.

Chinese Foreign Ministry responds

The comments from the United States led to the widespread accusation of China with regard to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Chinese have come forward to make a statement on the topic.

China Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, during a daily briefing, said:

World Health Organization (WHO) has said multiple times there is no evidence the new coronavirus was created in a laboratory.

The country has defended stating the WHO has confirmed there is no evidence that the Coronavirus originated in a lab.

It also needs to be noted here that, although Zha Lijian’s comments have come a day after Donald Trump’s announcement, the spokesperson did not directly address the US President’s observation.
