The Amitabh Bachchan hosted quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 12, has been in the middle of a controversy yet again. After the recent episode, it is being accused of being “communist propaganda” and certain sections have called for its boycott.
In the recently aired episode of the show, Amitabh Bachchan is seen asking a question about the text Manusmriti. The question was – ‘On 25 December 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture?’ The options for the answer were – Vishnu Purana, Bhagavad Gita, Rigveda, and Manusmriti.
The Backlash
This question of the show did not go well with a section of the social media which called the show “leftist propaganda” and also accused it of hurting Hindu sentiments. Popular twitter celebrity, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri tweeted the video of the question and wrote,
“KBC has been hijacked by Commies. Innocent kids, learn this is how culture wars are won. It’s called coding.”
Another Twitter user wrote,
“Hinduphobic propaganda runs deep everywhere if you pay close attention. Look at this question asked in an episode of KBC. Observe their shared laughs while they ponder over the options. Brings them happiness!? If Hindus don’t realize this now, soon it’ll be too late.”
Another user questioned the integrity of the host Amitabh Bachchan and wrote,
“What the hell is this @SrBachchan Ji?? If you don’t love Mumbai then ask a question on some other dharma and then see the magic and Diwali outside your house!! Each and everyone here is just a paid bot because Hinduism ki kisi ko padi hi nai hai! Shameless!”
There hasn’t been any official word by the broadcaster Sony Television Network, or the producers or the host Bachchan himself. Meanwhile, Twitter trended #BoycottKBC.
