Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will soon get a world-class arena that will have the capacity to accommodate up to 9,000 people and will be hosting events like music concerts, award shows, exhibitions, and weddings. KIA will become the first airport in India to host a world-class concert.
A world-class Arena for KIA
The Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has decided to develop this project on a 6.3- acre land parcel to cater to the growing demand for entertainment events in Bengaluru.
“In keeping with BIAL’s vision is to make the BLR Airport the gateway to a new India and a destination in itself, this offering is part of a wide range of amenities that will keep both passengers and visitors entertained,” the spokesperson stated in a report.
In fact, this arena is part of the Rs 13,000 crore airport expansion project which includes a new terminal, widening of access roads, metro station, cargo bays as well as a new multi-modal transport hub. It is also said that the proposed arena will not trouble the traffic going towards and coming from the airport.
Both passengers and visitors will be entertained
“The concert arena will cater to the growing demand for entertainment events in Bengaluru. Once completed, this would be first of its kind to be built at an airport in India. It is proposed to be cost-effective, semi-permanent marquee structure,” said BIAL spokesperson in a report.
“The arena will accommodate up to 9,000 people and will be hosting events like music concerts, award shows, exhibitions, and weddings,” the spokesperson added.
After the world-class coliseum is completed, the BIAL will not be investing in its development, nor it would manage to take care of the arena. Rather, it plans to outsource it to companies who are specialized in this field and for this purpose it has invited proposals to finance, design, build, operate and manage the concert arena.
