Easing the commute for those taking a flight from Bangalore airport as well as airport employees, Kempegowda International Airport will get a railway halt station by August.
Considering the Bangalore airport is located over 35 km from the city, there are plenty of running jokes revolving around the time it takes to get to the airport. However, as per a recent report, this might soon be resolved by August.
Because that’s by when the railway halt station near KIA will be ready for operation! Located on the boundary of the airport, this station will help South Western Railway add a stop for trains that operate on the Yelahanka-Bangarpet line. Which means no more taking cabs or leaving home hours in advance to catch a flight!
Apart from funding the much-needed station that will have facilities like ticket counters and waiting lounges, BIAL will also be running a free shuttle service from the halt station to the airport every 15 minutes. The commute time for this trip is said to be an approximate eight minutes.
However, it’s not just air travellers who will benefit from this new station. Even airport employees, some of who are based in places like Kolar, can also heave a sigh of relief once the railway station starts functioning. Although we might not be taking a flight any time soon, we’re still excited about this new development. Can’t wait!
