On Thursday, Actor Rishi Kapoor passed away at a private hospital in Mumbai after a long battle with cancer. While many remembered the versatile actor with their condolence tweets, even Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi registered his respect for the brilliant superstar. However, it has to be noted that Rishi Kapoor was never a big fan of Rahul.
Rahul Tweeted about Rishi Kapoor yesterday
After Rishi Kapoor’s passing away, Rahul Gandhi said: “This is a terrible week for Indian cinema, with the passing of another legend, actor Rishi Kapoor. A wonderful actor, with a huge fan following across generations, he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends, and fans all over the world, at this time of grief.“
Rishi Kapoor spoke a few times against the Gandhis
In 2016, Rishi Kapoor, in a series of tweets, lashed out against the Gandhis as to why everything was named after their family. In reality, there are 450 different schemes, projects, institutions named after the Nehru-Gandhi family. 12 Central and 52 state schemes, 28 sports tournaments and trophies, 19 stadiums, 5 airports and ports, 98 education institutions, 51 awards, 15 fellowships, 15 national sanctuaries and parks, 39 hospitals, 37 institutions and 74 roads, buildings and places named after 3 members of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Here are Mr. Rishi Kapoor’s tweets:
Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress.Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road. Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha ?

Why Indira G airport International ? Why not Mahatma Gandhi or Bhagat Singh Ambedkar or on my name Rishi Kapoor. As superficial! What say?

If roads in Delhi can be changed why not Congress assets/property ke naam? Was in Chandigarh wahan bhi Rajeev Gandhi assets? Socho? Why?
— Rishi Kapoor (@chintskap) May 17, 2016
We must name important assets of the country who have contributed to society. Har cheez Gandhi ke naam? I don't agree. Sochna log!

Rishi Kapoor spoke against Rahul Gandhi in 2017 too
In 2017, when Rahul Gandhi was at the University of California, he had said: “Akhilesh Yadav is a dynast, Mr. Stalin is a dynast, Mr. Dhumal’s son is a dynast. Even Mr. Abhishek Bachchan is a dynast, also Mr. Ambani.”
To this, Rishi Kapoor had replied: “Rahul Gandhi. In the 106 years of Indian cinema of India, Kapoor’s contribution is 90 years. And each generation is chosen by the public on merit.”
