When we go with the flow of a story, when we stand up and clap for an actor or when we berate the movie as the worst, a director stands in silence. A good director creates an environment, which gives the actor the encouragement to fly. Prashanth Neel

With just one movie, Prashanth Neel has created an expectation of a level that audiences are dying to watch his next flick. Prashanth made his debut with the 2014 film, Uggram that went on to become a huge commercial hit coupled with an equal amount of appreciation from critics.

Quoting from one of his interviews, Prashanth finished his film-making course and wrote a film called ‘Aa Hudugi Neene’ for his brother-in-law actor Sri Murali. Owing to his inexperience, the film didn’t take off and Prashanth changed his mind and began observing Sri Murali’s mannerisms. And over a period of time, he made Uggram and today, he is one of the promising directors of KFI.

Santosh AnandRam

Santosh Anandram started his career in direction with Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari. It emerged as a blockbuster and gave an amazing push to Yash’s winning career. Followed by, Santosh teamed up with Puneeth Rajkumar and gave the industry hit ‘Raajkumara’.

Santosh came to the industry as a lyric writer through Rocky (2008 film) and then worked as an assistant to Harsha in script and dialogues. He has also worked as a dialogue writer for Agraja and Gajakesari. However, today, after two back-to-back mega-hits, Santosh Anandram is tagged as the ‘Star Director’ of KFI.

Pawan Kumar

The story of Pawan Kumar quitting his Engineering to join the field of Cinema is an interesting story indeed. He started with writing plays for theatre to working as an assistant for Yogaraj Bhat. Pawan’s directorial debut Lifu Ishtene didn’t go well in the market but his 2013 released psychological thriller Lucia came as the biggest savior in his life. Pawan then made U-turn in Kannada which gave him a huge success. He then made it in Telugu too to prove his talent across the borders.

Raj B. Shetty

Today, we know Raj B.Shetty as a director who gave a film like ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ which create a new wave in the industry. However, Raj started his career as a Radio Jockey at BIG 92.7 FM in Mangalore. He is an amazing actor and an incredible story-teller. A few of his movies which are in line are Ammacchi Emba Nenapu, Gubbi Mele Brahmastra, Thurthu Nirgamana, and others.

At the age of 21, he wrote his first book titled ‘It’s Raining in Maya’. In February 2016, Forbes featured Ram Reddy in the 30 Under 30 List of Achievers. Interestingly, Ram Reddy is the grandson of the first chief minister of Karnataka, Mr. K.C Reddy.

Hemanth Rao

Hemanth Rao after completing his graduation in Engineering with a brief course on Journalism, worked as an assistant to Girish Kasaravalli. He then worked with Jacob Vargheese in Savaari and Prithvi. He made his directional debut in 2016 with Godhi Banna Sadharana Maikattu which went on to become a success. It was well-received by audience and critics alike. Suni started his career as an assistant director. He worked as an assistant to Dinesh Baboo in films like Janumada Gelathi and School Master. Later on, he shifted to short films before directing Simple Aagi Ondu Love story. He continued to direct Bahuparak, Simple Aagi Innond Love story, Operation Alamelamma and Chamak. He’s been a producer, lyricist, and a screenwriter. Simple suni’s name is also tagged in films like Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Chowka, Happy New Year, and others.

Pavan Wadeyar

Pavan Wadeyar is largely known for his films like Googly and Govindaya Namah. He kickstarted his career as an assistant director to Yogaraj Bhat in Pancharangi. In 2012, he made a directional debut with Govindaya Namah which won him SIIMA award for the best debut director. The major commercial success came to him with Googly followed by which, he directed Rana Vikrama, Jessi, and Nataraja Service.

Rishab Shetty

After the huge success of Kirik Party and Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale, today, Rishab Shetty is seen as the most promising directors of KFI. Prior to Kirik Party, Rishab assisted Arvind Kaushik on a TV series. He played a police officer’s role in Pawan Kumar’s Lucia and a key role in Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

D Satya Prakash

Satya Prakash is a screenwriter, director, and producer who directed a short titled Jayanagara 4th block and feature films titled Rama Rama Re and Ondalla Eradalla. Rama Rama Re won him the Karnataka State Film Award for Director’s First Time Best Film. Before that, he assisted T.S Nagabharana, Monhar, and S.Mahendra. He has also worked as a dialogue writer for movies like Urvi and Endendigu.
