Here’s Why Aamir Khan Is Afraid Of Doing Pan-India Film Mahabharata

After having both success and failures in his career, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan feels he is not ready to make his dream project ‘Mahabharat’ yet. The actor said that he is afraid. Here’s why:

Aamir Khan’s dream project

Aamir Khan is leaving no stone unturned for the promotions of his upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ as he will be making his comeback on the silver screen after 4 long years. During one promotional event, Aamir Khan was asked about his lifelong dream to do the Hindu epic ‘Mahabharat’ into a film.

For the unversed, decades ago Aamir Khan had expressed his desire to make a film on the Mahabharat. “It is a desire. The project is huge. It is a dream project for me. But if I decide that I am making it, I will have to give 20 years to it,” Aamir had said.

The 57-year-old was recently seen in an interview with Galatta Plus where the actor was seen talking about his upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha. During the promotional event, the actor was also asked if it was the right time for his dream project Mahabharat to be brought to light as now everyone wants a pan-India film.

Aamir Khan responded to the question by saying that he feels that it is the right time adding, “When you’re making Mahabharat, you’re not making a film, you’re doing a Yagna. It’s not a film, it’s much deeper than that. So I’m not ready for that. I’m afraid to bring it out to the fore. Mahabharat will never let you down, you might let it down.”

Afraid of film’s failure

Explaining further how sometimes his calculations have gone wrong, Aamir said, “I give a lot of thought to what went wrong. See a film that doesn’t work, is an opportunity. You learn exactly where it’s gone wrong. Wherever I am today, is because of my failure and not my success. I hold my failures close to my heart because those are the ones have struggled with the most. But they teach you a lot. So I value my failures a lot.” He added that he hopes that his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha will touch people’s hearts and connects with the audience.

Speaking about Bollywood, which is going through a rough patch at the box office, Aamir expressed his worry about the film’s eventual outcome. The actor said that he was rather ‘stressed’ about the film, and hoped that it would work at the box office, saying that if it didn’t, he would be rather heartbroken. He said that while he knows that director Advait Chandan had done a admirable job with the film, it has grown his nervousness further. He said, “We are excited that we have made a good film, lekin agar film logon ko pasand nahin aayi, bahut dil toot jaayega (If people don’t like it, we will be heartbroken).”

We can comprehend the distrust Aamir has as netizens have taken it to their social media accounts, swearing to boycott Laal Singh Chaddha right before its release. The claims come after Aamir said ‘India’s growing intolerance’ a few years back. Along with this his now ex-wife Kiran Rao was also slammed on social media when she revealed that she wanted to move out of the country for the safety of her children.
