Reactions Pour In For India’s Maiden CWG Medal In Cricket

Australian women’s cricket team continues their winning streak and emerges victorious in the final of the Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham, defeating India by a thin margin of 9 runs.

Indian Women’s cricket team were defeated by Australia by 9 runs in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on August 7, Sunday, in the gold medal match of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Women in Blue failed to conquer the maiden T20 cricket competition of the mega event.

Sourav Ganguly, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on winning a silver medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games. However, he also said that the team would be disappointed on missing gold as it was “their game”.

“Congratulations to the Indian women’s team for winning silver ..But they will go home disappointed as it was their game tonite ..@BCCIWomen,” tweeted Ganguly.

Praising the women’s team’s performance Prime Narendra Modi too took to Twitter and wrote, “Cricket and India are inseparable. Our Women’s cricket team played excellent cricket through the CWG and they bring home the prestigious Silver medal. Being the first ever CWG medal in cricket, this one will always be special. Best wishes to all team members for a bright future.”
