Brigadier Mohammad Usman

He was the man of steel who was born in Bibipur, Uttar Pradesh. He joined Indian army in 1934. During partition, he had an option to become the Chief of Pakistan Army but he chose to stay with the Indian army. Brigadier Usman was a fierce soldier who never got married, so and also donated a large sum of money to needy children. He died in 1948 while defending Jhanagr.

Subedar Yogendra Singh Yadav

This courageous and brave soldier was the youngest person to receive the Param Vir Chakra award at the age of 19 on 4th July 1999 during Kargil war. The soldier volunteered to capture the three strategic bunkers on the tiger hill situated at the 16,500 ft high cliff face. During the mission, he was hit by three bullets but he still kept climbing and reached the top of the cliff. Even in the state of injury and immense pain, he completed his mission by killing 4 Pakistani soldiers and destroying two bunkers.

Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran

I fall short of words when it comes to telling this brave man’s story. After returning from the Sri Lanka operations, Parameswaran was attached by a group of militants, where he was shot in the chest. In spite of being badly injured he continued to fight, snatched the rifle from the militant and killed him He continued motivating his soldiers to fight till their last breath, because of which Indian soldiers killed 5 militants, and discovered two rocket launchers.

Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat

Another story of a brave man, who was the hero in 1962 Indo-China war. In the 1962 war, the soldiers were asked to vacate their posts due to heavy casualties but Jaswant Singh continued to fight. After three days he managed to fool the Chinese, but later he shot himself rather than be captured by the Chinese forces.

Major General Ian Cardozo

Ian Cardozo will always be known for his courageous activities in 1971 war with Pakistan. Major stepped on the landmine during the war, which led to the injury in his leg, when the doctors could not cut his leg he cut off his own leg with the Gorkha Knife. In spite of his physical injuries, he defeated many two-legged soldiers and became the first Indian officer in Indian Army to command an infantry battalion.
