Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was arrested by the Mumbai police on Sunday in relation to the abetment of a suicide case of 2018. The court had sent him into judicial custody for 14 days. However, he has shifted him to the Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai.
Arnab Goswami was shifted through a police van and in a dramatic visual, was seen speaking to his reporters of Republic TV where he revealed that his life was under threat with the Mumbai Police as he was being shifted without the knowledge of his lawyers. He said,
“My life is under threat. My life is under threat. Not being allowed to speak to lawyers. They assaulted me this morning. Woke me up at 6 am, said I can’t speak to my lawyers. Please tell people of India my life is under threat.”
The place where Arnab was shifted, Taloja Jail, is apparently a hub for the underworld and terror accused. Located 50 kilometers away from Mumbai, Taloja jail has seen several dreaded criminals. Some of them still there. Some of them are Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists and also the close aides of Ajmal Kasab. Due to quarantine facilities, the Mumbai police have shifted many criminals to Taloja jail that also happens to be the biggest jail in Maharashtra.
Jail For Terrorists
Reportedly, the jail has been a house for many criminal masterminds including Abdul Qayyum, the accused in the Gulshan Kumar murder case. The terror accused Abu Salem has also been kept at the Taloja jail. In 2012, he was attacked inside the jail by Devendra Jagtap, an accused in the Shahid Azmi murder case.
In the past few weeks, Republic TV anchor Arnab Goswami has been involved in a tussle with the Maharashtra government and the Mumbai Police in many cases like the Palghar lynching, Sushant Singh Rajput case, and the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s house. On November 4th, Arnab Goswami was arrested from his residence by the Mumbai Police for a suicide abetment case of 2018 that was reopened recently.
