The United States of America Senator Kamala Devi Harris has recently scripted history by being the first African-American, Indian-American and Asia-American to be running for the Vice President in the Presidential elections.

To kick-start, the campaign, Harris posted a video that explains how to pronounce her name correctly. Kamala in Sanskrit means lotus which also happens to be India’s national flower. The kids in the video say,

Kamala Harris then clarified saying,

“Comma-la.”

In her memoir, she described the meaning of her name to be,

“The Truths We Hold it means lotus flower which is a symbol of significance in Indian culture. A lotus grows underwater, its flower rising above the surface while its roots are planted firmly in the river bottom.”

Twitter Seems Unhappy

However, this didn’t go well with the Indian twitter. Many trolled the senator for not knowing how to spell her own name correctly.
