The Attack On BJP Leaders Continue In Kashmir As Militants Open Fire At Another BJP Leader

On Sunday morning, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Srinagar was fired at and was left injured. The incident took place in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Abdul Hamid Najar was on a morning walk when the militants appeared and fired at him. As per the police officer of the region,

“Najar was injured in the attack and was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for treatment. He was allotted secured accommodation and had slipped away from there.”

Soon after the attack took place, the security forces assembled in the area and begin the tracing of the militants. This is the third attack on the BJP leaders in under the week in Kashmir.

Five days ago, on August 4th, the BJP leader and a panch Arif Ahmad were also severely injured when militants shot at him near his residence in the Akhran Qazigund area. Currently, the leader is now battling for his life. A couple of days later, On August 6, Sajad Ahmad Khanday, a sarpanch who is in close ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party was shot dead outside his residence in Kulgam district’s Vessu.

Meanwhile, a gunfight is still underway between the armed forces and the militants in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The encounter broke when the armed forces were carrying out a search operation after procuring an input about the hideout of a militant. The police officer of the Kulgam district said,

“As the joint team of forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.”

The situation in Kashmir has turned worrisome as the militants in the valley eye for the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and the ones associated with the party. After a year of abolishing article 370, the tension continues to escalate in the valley.
