On Wednesday, the Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh reiterated that the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death would not be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The home minister was quoted by the news agency ANI where he said,
“The Mumbai police are investigating the case. It will not be transferred to the CBI.”
Earlier this month, Deshmukh had said that there is no need for a CBI investigation as Mumbai police were looking into the matter of the actor’s death. In a twist, Rajput’s father filed a complaint with the Bihar police against Rhea Chakraborty for the abetment of suicide and cheating. This has given a whole new angle to the case and the cry for handing over the case to CBI has intensified.
The leader of the Lok Janshakti Party, Chirag Paswan, also demanded a CBI inquiry by saying,
“Earlier Mumbai Police was probing the matter but now Bihar police are also involved, a central agency investigating this would be better.”
He has also written to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray saying,
“On behalf of every Bihari, I urge you to conduct a fair inquiry into the matter so that no talented person is victimized in the future due to groupism and nepotism in Bollywood.”
Supreme Court Dismisses Plea
In a major development, the Supreme Court of India has dismissed the plea to transfer the case to the CBI. The Chief Justice has asked the people to let the police do their job.
On Thursday morning, Twitter lashed out at Mumbai police and trended #ShameOnMumbaiPolice. Here are some of the Tweets.

Questions still remain the same
1) Why YRF banned Sushant?
2) Why Karan Johar promised Sushant trilogy instead dumped his film online?
3) Whey mafia media portrayed Sushant as a drug addict and rapist and a flop actor? …(1/2)— Team Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) July 30, 2020
