A Delhi resident, who claims to be an advocate by profession, has been arrested by the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police for allegedly levelling false allegations in Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian death cases.
Accused, identified as Vibhor Anand, was brought by police to Mumbai where he was taken into custody on Thursday, sources said. The Mumbai Police is seeking Vibhor Anand’s police custody, the sources added.
According to police officials, Vibhor Anand was involved in making several false allegations in Sushant Singh Rajput case and Disha Salian death cases. Cops said he concocted several fake conspiracy theories in the death cases — defaming the families and the Maharashtra government.
The Mumbai Police had last month arrested a man for uploading videos on YouTube which were allegedly spreading fake news on the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. According to Mumbai Police, the videos were found to be “defamatory” and “damaged the image” of the state government and the city police.
A case was registered against Sarvagnya last month under the Indian Penal Code Sections 500 (defamation), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) among others.
Sarvagnya was later released on bail, the official addedd. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14 in his Bandra house, Mumbai.
The actor’s death has stoked controversy as multiple angles surrounding his death are currently being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Disha Salian, former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8 after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad (west) Mumbai.
