Fake Followers Case: Priyanka Chopra And Deepika Padukone To Be Questioned By Mumbai Police

As per a recent report, Mumbai Police is likely to question actors Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone in relation to a fake social media followers case.

Mumbai Police had recently found out that there are various studies carried out by credible organizations that reveal that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are among 10 celebrities who have fake followers. The Mumbai Police will be questioning both of them along these lines.

Recently, a week ago, the Mumbai police were successful in arrested a man who had made a fake profile of popular singer Bhoomi Trivedi and later claimed that he manages her social media account. He has confessed to the police that he was in contact with many Bollywood personalities offering them to increase their followers as he did with Bhoomi Trivedi. Apparently, a renowned choreographer fell prey to the trap and even paid amount to the accused. The choreographer was quick enough to realize his mistake and contacted Bhoomi Trivedi and that’s when he realized that it was a fake profile. Bhoomi Trivedi later filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police.

‘A Huge Scam’

Only after the accused, the Mumbai police found that it is a huge scam. An SIT team comprising of members from the crime branch and the cyber cell has been formed to look into the case. The SIT team is headed by the deputy commissioner of police Nandkumar Thakur. The SIT team has found out over 100 companies that are involved in selling fake social media followers. Along with it, the team has identified 68 companies that offer fake social media activities like retweets, likes, views, and subscriptions.

As many as 20 statements have been recorded by the Mumbai police in the matter. Many of them are from Bollywood. The Mumbai police have written to France government in relation to the company FollowersKart which is the main accused in the case.
