Sood had first announced the chartered flights from Kyrgyzstan on 13 July, calling it his “next mission”.

Two days later, on 15 July, Sood again tweeted saying his team will not charge any amount for arranging the homecoming travel for stranded students.

Soon after Sood made the announcement, Twitter users praised the actor for the gesture.

One user wrote, “Who are you?…. You are inspiring in India. Get ready for next election… Hats off you to you Sonu Sir.”

Another user of the microblogging site compared Sood to fictional character Superman. “Even Superman thinks twice to take flight in this crisis time, you are making this normal for each Indian who is stranded abroad. Your gesture will be remembered forever. Thank You for your service,” wrote the user.
